BCE@ECB (Biblical Christian Education)

Biblical Christian Education is an important foundation for all Christian faith and as such, is taken very seriously here at ECB. Alongside the biblical preaching that is provided each week, we also hold a number of smaller, more focused Biblical Education classes, allowing a more in-depth look at the Bible, and how we can practically apply it to our lives.

Awesome: Building Great Relationships
beginning 7 January 2018, 11:00 a.m. (4 weeks)
Room 1202, 2nd floor Office Building

The bedrock of every friendship is trust. It takes time and intention to create awesome relationships. This 4-week study for both married and yet-to-be married individuals (or couples) will take a close look at foundational issues for building strong, unselfish relationships the way God intended. We all long for genuine connection with others – relationships where we are fully known. This DVD taught class (Rick Warren, Purpose Driven Life) will help participants grow in a Biblical understanding of various relationships. Topics of study will be:

Why marriage matters and how god designed it to make you holy, not happy
The 4 traits of awesome families
Why you need awesome friends and the 6 golden rules of friendship
How to build a friendship with god and make him your #1 priority

 

Participants in ‘Awesome: Building Great Relationships’ must be at least 18 years old

40 Days in the Word
beginning 4 February 2018, 9:00 a.m. (6 weeks)
Room 1302, 3rd floor Office Building

No other habit can do more to transform our lives and make us more like Jesus than to study and act upon God’s Word. This 6-session, DVD taught class will help participants to uncover the joy of studying God’s Word through the ‘Devotional Bible Study Method’. Whether young or old in your walk with Christ, this interactive class (taught by Rick Warren – Purpose Driven Life) will infuse new life into your time in the Word, taking us beyond accumulating information to transformation.

 

 

Participants in ‘40 Days in the Word’ must be at least 18 years old
and proficient in English (no children please).


 

Resolving Everyday Conflict
beginning 4 February 2018, 9:00 a.m. (8 weeks)
Room 1205, 2nd floor Office Building

The Bible provides us with a simple yet powerful system for resolving conflict. These principles can be used to resolve the most basic conflicts of daily life, including conflict in marriage and parent/child relationships. Yet they have also been used to mediate and arbitrate difficult court cases, business disputes and lawsuits. Those studying this class will find that through the application of Biblical principles, relationships are strengthened and resolution to even the most difficult conflicts, is possible.

 

 

Participants in ‘Resolving Everyday Conflict’ must be at least 18 years old

Alpha Course
beginning 4 February 2018, 11:00 a.m. (13 weeks)
Room 1202, 2nd floor Office Building

Alpha is an opportunity for anyone, anywhere, to freely explore questions about life, faith and God in a relaxed, non-threatening environment. It is a series of interactive sessions which include topics such as “Is there more to Life?”, “What is the purpose of my life?” Alpha is for you if you:

Want to explore the meaning of life
Are a new Christian and want to build a strong faith foundation
Have questions you have always wanted to ask
Are a Christian who would like to review the ‘basics’ or become more comfortable with talking about your faith

 

Participants in the ‘Alpha Course’ must be at least 18 years old
and proficient in English (no children please).


 

Freedom in Christ
beginning 4 February 2018, 11:00 a.m. (13 weeks)
Room 1402, 4th floor Office Building

The Freedom in Christ course is designed to help every Christian take hold of the truth of who we now are in Christ, resolve personal and spiritual conflicts and move on to maturity. Some areas covered in this course include:

Why we can go boldly into God’s presence any time, without fear
How to resolve the effects of even the deepest issues from the past
How to deal with repeating patterns of sin
The battle for our minds – Walking in freedom every day

This course is DVD taught, interactive, and designed to help every believer in Christ become a more fruitful disciple.

 

Participants in ‘Freedom in Christ’ must be at least 18 years old
and proficient in English (no children please).


 

When God’s People Pray
beginning 4 February 2018, 11:00 a.m. (6 weeks)
Room 1302, 3rd floor Office Building

Prayer can change lives and circumstances like nothing else can. In this six-week DVD taught class, Pastor Jim Cymbala, (author) will teach on the power of prayer to transform lives and faith communities, and lead us into discovering the power of God to restore hope, ignite faith and work miracles. Whether you feel well-seasoned in prayer or only just beginning, this class will encourage you to push in deeper to the spiritual discipline of prayer. Small group discussion as well as ‘prayer practicums’ will be part of this course as we learn together, the joy and privilege of prayer.

 

Participants in ‘When God’s People Pray’ must be at least 18 years old
and proficient in English (no children please).


 

Purpose Driven Life
beginning 18 March 2018, 9:00 a.m. (6 weeks)
Room 1302, 3rd floor Office Building

The Purpose Driven Life course is a six-week class that will offer guidelines to help focus and simplify the decisions of life and find deeper meaning. This DVD taught class by Pastor Rick Warren (author), will explore a Christ-centered approach to the answering of three of life’s most fundamental questions:

The question of Existence: Why am I alive?
The questions of Significance: Does my life matter?
The question of Purpose: What on earth am I here for?

Living out the purpose for which we were created, moves us beyond mere survival and success, to a life of significance – the life we were meant to live in Christ.

 

 

Participants in A ‘Purpose Driven Life’ must be at least 18 years old
and proficient in English (no children please).


 

Son of God
beginning 18 March 2018, 9:00 a.m. (6 weeks)
Room 1205, 2nd floor Office Building

Whether you’re exploring the life of Jesus for the first time, or ready to take your faith to a deeper level, this study will provide practical steps to over-come temptation, suffering and persecution. This six-week (DVD taught) class is based on the film ‘Son of God’.  Clips from the movie will be woven throughout the teaching.  This class will prove to be a wonderful Lenten study, helping us to focus on the life, death and resurrection of Jesus during the season of Easter.

There’s nothing more important we can do with our lives than spending time getting to know Jesus.  This practical teaching on the life of Christ and His impact on all who encounter Him, will be transformational.
