Prayer Guide 20 September 2020

Sunday

Connecting my heart to the heart of the Father
It is You, O God, who is exalted over all the nations and Your purposes alone that will prevail! How thankful I am for the nations represented at ECB – for my brothers and sisters in Christ from all around the world and the privilege of worshiping together under the banner of Jesus! Thank You, Father, for this taste of heaven on earth and the continual reminder that You are at work around the globe, drawing people to Yourself.

May the nations represented among us experience great out-pourings of Your Holy Spirit. May revival fall and Your Church grow and prosper! Prepare us here I pray, to be Gospel ambassadors whenever we might visit or return to our home countries. But use us here, in our fellowship, in the city of Bangkok, to be the aroma of Christ. Move us beyond cultural differences and any language barriers and unite us as one under Jesus, who is head of the body, the church.

Empower me by Your Spirit, to convey this ‘Gospel-hope’ to those around me. May the light of Jesus and the Gospel in me, so shine before others that they will turn and glorify You, Father. Forgive me, I pray, for any way that I have allowed the light of Christ in me, to be diminished – for You have said Lord Jesus, that if the light within me is darkness, how great is that darkness! Search me, Father, and know my heart, reveal all sin within me I pray, for I submit to You alone.

Guard my heart, I pray, from loving the world or the things of the world, for love for the world and love of the Father cannot co-exist.

Fill me with Your compassion for those around me and help me to love like Jesus.

May I increasingly be devoted to the things which You love.

Father, You are able to do immeasurably more than anything I can ask or imagine, so I would dare to ask that You give us the nations for the sake of Christ! Send out missionaries from among us to other lands, to different parts of this city, different neighbourhoods, people groups. May our places of work, our homes and schools be filled with Your presence as we bear the light of Jesus!  Fill our hearts with urgency – surely Jesus is coming soon!

O God make us to be a congregation to the nations that Jesus might be exalted among us and receive the reward for His suffering. Amen.

Monday

Praying the heart of the Father for the ECB Faith Community
Father, make ECB to be a community of faith that truly lives by the Spirit and keeps in step with the Spirit. May we not in any way put out the Spirit’s fire, but rather, fan into flame the gift of God that is in us (Galatians 5:25: 1 Thessalonians 5:19; 2 Timothy 1:6)!

Father, may our eyes be continually fixed on Jesus and may we walk in the freedom that He has provided for us (Hebrews 12:2; Romans 8:2). Keep us from returning to sinful patterns of behaviour.

Lord Jesus, our times are filled with such evil. May we be careful in the way that we live and wise in all that we do. Help us to make the most of every opportunity for the purposes of Your Kingdom (Ephesians 5:15-16).

Tuesday

Empower those who are teaching this session of Adult Discipleship by Your Spirit and increase our hunger for Your Word!

Father, I ask that You strengthen us to endure hardship as your loving discipline in our lives. Use the trials that we face, as we submit to You, to train us and make us holy (Hebrews 12:7-12).

Father, Your Word says that if one part of the body of Christ suffers, every part suffers. Teach us to walk alongside one another and bear each other’s burdens (1 Corinthians 12:26; Galatians 6:2).

Renew and transform our minds and increase our hunger for Your Word (Romans 12:1-2).

Wednesday

ECB Prayer and Fasting Focus
Wednesdays have been set aside as a day of prayer and fasting for the ministries of ECB and to ask God for a greater outpouring of the Holy Spirit among us. You are invited to join in praying and fasting during one or all meals, or from something that is important to you. To receive a weekly Prayer and Fasting e-mail, please contact [email protected]
Father, I ask in the mighty name of the Lord Jesus Christ, that every curse and assignment of the enemy that has come against Your people, be crushed. Be the “wall of fire around us and the glory within” us, O God (Zechariah 2:5)!

Remember us, O God, that we are Your people – the people of Your pasture and the flock under Your care. Gather us in Your arms and carry us close to Your heart I pray (Psalm 95:7; Isaiah 40:11).

May we, as Your people, Father, be prepared for works of service so that ECB will be built up and reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of Jesus. May we become increasingly mature in our faith and attain the fullness of Christ! May we be built up in love, each of us doing our part as the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:13, 16).

May each of us, daily wear the full armour that You have provided – may we ‘put on’ Jesus! Remind us that our struggle is not against flesh and blood. Strengthen us to stand firm. May we pray continually (Ephesians 6:10-18).

Thursday

May we be a people who forgive others, as You, Lord, have forgiven us, and extend grace to one another freely (Matthew 10:18).

May we, as Your people, Father, be prepared for works of service, so that ECB will be built up and reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of Jesus. May we become increasingly mature in our faith and attain the fullness of Christ! May we be built up in love, each of us doing our part as the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:13, 16).

Father, deliver us from lust, I pray, and purify our hearts until our greatest passion and desire is for You alone (Matthew 5:27-30).

Father, may we not give the enemy a foothold in our lives by holding onto anger (Ephesians 4:26; 4:2). Set us free from the need to be right. May our relationships be increasingly marked by humility.

Friday

May we, as Your people, not be lacking in zeal, but may our spiritual fervour in serving You increase! Strengthen us, I pray, that we might be joyful in hope, patient in affliction and faithful in prayer (Romans 12:10-11).

I pray for my brothers and sisters who are trapped in their minds by the pain of hurtful memories. I pray for healing in Jesus’ name and ask that their minds would be renewed and their living, transformed (Romans 12:1-2;
Isaiah 61:1).

I ask, in Jesus’ mighty name, that fear be crushed and put to death in the lives of my brothers and sisters at ECB. Replace timidity with holy boldness, I pray.

Father, I pray for my brothers and sisters in Christ who are entangled somehow in sin. I ask that they would receive a fresh glimpse of You watching for their return, and run into Your arms (Luke 15:20-24).

Saturday

Father, prepare the hearts of Your people today, to worship You tomorrow. Prepare my heart, I pray (Continue in prayer as the Holy Spirit leads you.)!

Change us and wash us by Your Word! Keep us from just listening to Your Word – may we be those who do what it says (Psalm 51:15; Ephesians 5:26; James 1:22)!

Strengthen and anoint our Pastor as he brings the Word, and give us ears to hear what the Spirit is saying to the church, what you are saying to me.

May many be led to Jesus and Your love spread through the city of Bangkok through our lives. May Your favour rest upon us, Lord. Establish the work of our hands (Psalm 127:1; Psalm 51:18; Psalm 90:17).
