Prayer Guide 27 September 2020

Sunday

Connecting my heart to the heart of the Father
O LORD, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! Your glory is above the heavens. When I look at the night sky and see the work of Your hands, the moon and the stars which You have set in place, Your greatness overwhelms me, and in my heart I so easily feel small and insignificant. Yet, You tell me that You have made me a little lower than the angels and crowned me with glory and honour, made me ruler over the works of Your hands and have put everything under my feet (Pray and ask that these truths regarding your significance to God, land on your heart in deeper ways that expose every lie of the enemy)!

That You, O God, creator of all things, call me by name and say ‘do not fear for I am with you, I have redeemed you, you are mine,’ is a blessing too great to comprehend. That You have called me out of the darkness of my sin and into the wonderful light of the Lord Jesus, makes my heart overflow with thanksgiving! For I remember when I was still dead in my sin, hopeless and despairing. But through Christ, my sins have been forgiven! My slate has been wiped clean! Hallelujah! It is You alone that has saved me and has called me to a holy life. O Father –

Purify me I pray, that I might be found living a life that is worthy of the calling that I have received from You.

Open the eyes of my heart ever wider, I pray, that I might have a clearer understanding of the ‘glorious inheritance’ that You have called me to.

Strengthen me, that I might always press on towards You.

Renew my passion and hunger to know You – to be in Your presence.

Help me to live as one who has been called by the God of the universe into intimate fellowship and communion!

I confess my weakness to you, the difficulty that I have almost continually to remain steadfast and focused on Your face alone. Be strong in my weakness, I pray. You who has called me to Yourself, who is faithful even when I am faithless – I trust in Your great love for me, that You will accomplish all that You intend. I submit to You and Your working in my life. Be glorified Father – in me and through me.

I ask these things in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Monday

Praying the heart of the Father for the ECB Faith Community
Father, help us, as Your people, to learn to walk humbly with You. Give us the gift of tears, I pray, as a sign that You are softening our hearts. Fill us with fresh passion for You and a hunger for holiness, that we would truly become those who seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness. Reveal to us, I pray, the things that keep us from truly drawing near to You (Psalm 119:2; Matthew 6:33).

Renew our minds, I pray. May we, as Your people, turn from the philosophies and entertainment of the world and truly think on things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy – may this be the standard for what we allow into our minds and hearts (Philippians 4:8).

Tuesday

Father, You are our healer, and I come to you on behalf of my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus who are suffering physically. May Your healing power be poured out on them, I pray. Strengthen and renew them and may all sickness be gone in Jesus’ name. I pray especially for… (Pray for those you know of by name…).

You are the God of all hope, Father. I pray that You will fill my brothers and sisters in Christ at ECB with joy and peace that their hearts might overflow with hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. Where there is depression or despair, discouragement or doubt, may it be dispelled in Jesus’ name, and the encouragement of the Holy Spirit be poured out on their lives (Romans 15:13).

Wednesday

ECB Prayer and Fasting Focus
Wednesdays have been set aside as a day of prayer and fasting for the ministries of ECB and to ask God for a greater outpouring of the Holy Spirit among us. You are invited to join in praying and fasting during one or all meals, or from something that is important to you. To receive a weekly Prayer and Fasting e-mail, please contact [email protected]
As you pray, mention by name those from ECB that the Holy Spirit brings to mind.

Father, I ask that You breathe new Spirit-life into the ECB community of faith. May revival visitations of the Holy Spirit fall on us, change us, renew us, I pray (Ezekiel 37:5)!  May we not resist the Holy Spirit in any way.

Father, pour out the gifts of the Spirit and strengthen us to serve. May there be no lack in any area of ministry at ECB, but may we increasingly use the gifts that You have given us to serve one another. Build us up, Father – strengthen us by the Holy Spirit (Pray for our worship teams, pastoral staff, LIFE Group, Oasis, Adult Discipleship, Students and Children’s leaders)!

May our zeal in serving You never diminish. Strengthen those among us who have grown weary in doing what is good – encourage them, I pray (Romans 12:10-11; Galatians 6:9).

Father, I ask that Your Word would dwell in us richly, that we would overflow with Your Word. I pray, Father, that Your Word will become the only standard for our lives (Colossians 3:16; 1:19-20).

Thursday

Fill us with fresh passion for You and a hunger for holiness, that we would truly become those who seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness (Psalm 119:2; Matthew 6:33).

Father, give us ‘God-sized’ dreams for the ministries that You wish to accomplish through us. Forgive our lack of faith, and embolden us to be risk-takers for the sake of Your Kingdom (Hebrews 11:1, 6)!

Father, You have said that the sacrifices that You are looking for are a broken spirit and contrite heart. Destroy pride among us Lord and give to us the gift of repentance, I pray (Psalm 51:16-17).

Father, I lift up to You, those in our fellowship who are struggling with doubt and unbelief, and I ask in Jesus’ name, that the enemy be pushed back. Strengthen them to fix their eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12:2; Mark 9:24).

Friday

Father, I ask that You build this house called ECB – we do not want to labour in vain! In Your good pleasure, make ECB prosper. May many be led to Jesus and Your love spread through the city of Bangkok, through our lives. May Your favour rest upon us, Lord. Establish the work of our hands (Psalm 127:1; Psalm 51:18; Psalm 90:17).

Keep us from turning away from You, Father. May we be steadfast. Revive us and restore us. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit. Make Your face shine on us, that the world may know that we are Yours (Psalm 81:18-19).

As a community of faith, may we increasingly be those who bless with our mouths, and who seek and pursue peace with one another. May we love as brothers and be compassionate and humble towards one another
(1 Peter 3:8-12).

Saturday

Father, I pray for those who come to ECB seeking answers about who You are and what it means to follow Jesus, that they will be drawn by the Holy Spirit to salvation. May each of us extend the welcome of Jesus to those around us and may Jesus be so seen among us, that many will come to faith in Him. May there be salvation in Your house tomorrow! Open the eyes of the spiritually blind (2 Corinthians 4:4; Ephesians 1:17-18)!

I ask that Your anointing be on our Pastor as he brings the message that You have given him. May he be strengthened on every side I pray, and to Your people, give us ears to hear what the Spirit would say to Your Church.

Pray for all who are studying Your Word in Adult Discipleship Classes on Sunday mornings – that it will produce a harvest of righteousness in each life.
