Prayer Guide 25 October 2020

Sunday

Connecting my heart to the heart of the Father
Father, Jesus said that I am to love You

with all of my heart,

with all of my understanding,

with all of my strength, and

love my neighbour as myself – that this is more important than anything else I do.

Forgive me Lord,

for I know that I have kept parts of my heart hidden and distant from You,
I have not loved you with all of my heart (Pause and pray further).

I have been slothful in my thinking, lazy and undisciplined and have not loved You with all of my mind (Pause and consider, and pray further).

I’m so very aware of my weakness and confess that I am not sure that I know what loving You with all of my strength even looks like. Help me Lord.

Father, You know that I rarely love others as much as I love myself. Forgive me Lord (Pause and ask for a greater measure of the love of Christ to be seen and lived-out through your life).

Have mercy on me and change me, O God! May my life be marked by deep heart-belief and mouth confession that Jesus is Lord.

Keep me, I pray, from self-imposed, outward moral reformation that leads to joyless, disempowered living. Instead, may I be conformed to the character of Jesus, that the reflection of His glory may be seen in me, and others drawn to Him. Change me from the inside out, I pray (Pause and pray further as the Holy Spirit leads you).

May I truly believe in my heart what I confess with my mouth, so that my faith will not shrivel within me when faced with the difficulties of life, or be hypocritical and harsh as I live in front of those who have yet to call on Your Name. May the Gospel be attractive to others, through me and Christ firmly established as Lord in my heart.

May Your Word be ever near me, in my mouth and heart, and help me to obey it, I pray. For I do believe in my heart, and I confess with my mouth, Lord Jesus, that You alone are Lord to the glory of God the Father. Now, may this declaration be lived out through my life as well.

In the mighty name of Him who alone can accomplish these things, I pray. Amen.

Monday

Praying the heart of the Father for the ECB Faith Community
Ask God to give to each of us creative ways to live out Jesus to our Thai neighbours, co-workers, classmates and friends – that in spite of language barriers, Jesus might be proclaimed. Pray for those who God has placed in your life who do not yet know Jesus, by name. Pray that they will see Jesus in you, in your actions, words – your very countenance.

Forgive our timidity, Father, and embolden us to be risk-takers for the sake of Your kingdom (Ephesians 3:30; Hebrews 11:1, 6)!

Tuesday

O God, You who holds all things together, and the nations in Your hand; You who in Your sovereignty has placed me here, in Bangkok, at this time in history; whose plans and ways are perfect – I submit to You. Your will is that none should perish, but that all should come to repentance, and in accordance with Your will, I ask that this would be so among us. May we, the church called ECB, grow through new converts. May the Gospel be presented to the lost among us with power, the Holy Spirit and deep conviction, not only through words, but by our very lives. Teach us, teach me, to make the most of every opportunity that we might constantly spread everywhere the fragrance of Christ. And allow us, I pray, allow me, to be part of end-time harvest, that Jesus, the Lamb, might receive the reward for His suffering. I ask all of this in His mighty name. Amen

Wednesday

ECB Prayer and Fasting Focus
Wednesdays have been set aside as a day of prayer and fasting for the ministries of ECB and to ask God for a greater outpouring of the Holy Spirit among us. You are invited to join in praying and fasting during one or all meals, or from something that is important to you. To receive a weekly Prayer and Fasting e-mail, please contact [email protected]
Father, it is written that it is improper for Your people to engage in sexual immorality, any kind of impurity or greed, so I ask in Jesus’ name that all deeds of darkness be crushed in our lives (Ephesians 5:3-5). May we walk in the light of Your presence!

Allow us, I pray, to see harvest come in, and souls come to know Jesus! Father, I pray for pre-Christian friends, co-workers, family members, who are connected to the ECB community of faith – Lord Jesus, may their longing to know You increase. Make us ready to give the reason for the hope that we have in You (Pray for the pre-Christian people who are connected to the ECB faith community. Pray that their spiritual eyes will be open) (1 Peter 3:15; Ephesians 1:17)!

Father, may we not give the enemy a foothold in our lives by holding onto anger (Ephesians 4:26; 4:2). Set us free from the need to be right. May our relationships be increasingly marked by humility.

Thursday

Fill us with fresh passion for You and a hunger for holiness, that we would truly become those who seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness (Psalm 119:2; Matthew 6:33).

May those in our community of faith who are hard pressed on every side, be encouraged by Your Spirit to stand firm. Strengthen them I pray (Pray for those you know of by name who are experiencing trials).

I ask in Jesus’ mighty name, that every stronghold of addiction be broken off of us as Your people. Reveal the hidden things, Father! Purify us and make us holy (Job 28:11)!

Pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ worldwide, who are facing persecution for their faith. Ask God to strengthen them by His Spirit. Pray that the Church of Jesus will grow and expand in spite of those who come against it.

Friday

Father, protect us from the love of money. May we be increasingly content with what we have knowing that You will never leave us (Hebrews 13:5-6).

Open the eyes of our hearts and reveal the hidden things, for You have said that You desire truth in our inmost parts. Show us Lord, show me, where I am still withholding my heart from You (John 4:23-24; Ephesians 1:18; Job 28:11; Psalm 51:6).

I pray for our children and young people Father, and ask You to strengthen them to stand firm in their faith and make a difference for Your Kingdom. Protect them from the evil one (John 17:15).  May they follow You all the days of their lives.

Keep us from turning away from You, Father. May we be steadfast. Revive us and restore us. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit. Make Your face shine on us, that the world may know that we are Yours (Psalm 81:18-19).

Saturday

May we as Your people Father, be built up in love, each of us doing our part as the body of Christ. Pour out the giftings of the Spirit, I pray! May each of us respond to the promptings of the Holy Spirit, and every need be met (Ephesians 4:13,16).

Father, may we increasingly live in harmony with one another, may we be sympathetic with one another and love as brothers and sisters – may compassion and humility increase among us. Teach us how to bless one another (1 Peter 3:8-9).

May we, as Your people, have ears to hear what Your Spirit would say to us. Anoint Your Word, I pray. May those who lead us in worship be empowered by Your Spirit, and those who come tomorrow who do not yet know You, be drawn to salvation.
