Prayer Guide 15 November 2020

Sunday

Connecting my heart to the heart of the Father
Heavenly Father, I thank You this day, that You are the stronghold of my life, my anchor and sure foundation. You have made the heaven and the earth and the sea and everything in them. The earth belongs to You, Father – everything in it and all who live in it. You hold all things together! Therefore, why should I be afraid? And so I ask, Father, that You replace all fear and timidity in my heart – with holy boldness and great faith.

Your Word says that the Kingdom of heaven is forcefully advancing and forceful men lay hold of it!  O God, may I be one who pursues Kingdom purposes with determination and faith, and lays hold of what is unseen and eternal!

Father God, keep me from avoiding obstacles that stand in the way of Your purposes, but instead, like New Testament believers, may I pray for and participate in, Kingdom advancement. Destroy, I pray, everything in my heart and life that holds me back from greater faith and gospel proclamation.

Forgive me, Father, for remaining silent when You have opened doors for me to speak (Pause and consider the relationships and situations in your life, and ask God to help you to speak truth and share Jesus more boldly).

Forgive me for giving in to the fear of man and the need for approval (Sit quietly and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal ways that you relate to people out of the need for their approval. Ask God to give you deeper understanding of what it means that you are beloved by Him. Ask Him to change you in light of this great truth).

Forgive me for being more concerned about being embarrassed, than for the eternal destiny of those You have placed in my life (Pause and ask that you be given a greater compassion for those who do not yet know Jesus. Pray for those you know of by name).

Whenever I open my mouth, Father, I ask that You give me the words that I should speak so that I might make known the mystery of the gospel – Your great love expressed through Christ. I ask this in His name alone. Amen.

Monday

Praying the heart of the Father for the ECB Faith Community
Father, may the Holy Spirit strengthen me and my brothers and sisters in Christ today, so that we do not grow weary in doing what is good (Galatians 6:9).

Teach us, Father, to serve one another in love. Destroy, I pray, by the work of the Holy Spirit among us, any gossip or discord, and all jealousy that is in our midst (Galatians 5:13-15, 19-21).

Father, may we become a fellowship of believers who increasingly rejoice in our salvation and give You the glory that is due Your name! Fill us with joy in Your presence as we worship in our everyday living, and when we gather together (Psalm 51:12; 96:8).

Tuesday

Father, I ask that You would give to the ECB faith community, the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that we might know You better (Ephesians 1:17)!

Heavenly Father, may the fruit of the Spirit increase among us in all of its fullness. May we live lives that are full of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. In all conversations, relationships and situations, may the Holy Spirit use us to make Jesus known (Galatians 6:22-23).

Wednesday

ECB Prayer and Fasting Focus
Wednesdays have been set aside as a day of prayer and fasting for the ministries of ECB and to ask God for a greater outpouring of the Holy Spirit among us. You are invited to join in praying and fasting during one or all meals, or from something that is important to you. To receive a weekly Prayer and Fasting e-mail, please contact [email protected]
Father, may the children and students of our fellowship grow strong in You and in Your mighty power. Protect them from the evil one and go before them in all things. Strengthen them to be salt and light (Ephesians 6:10; John 17:15).

Lord, anoint our pastors, with Your Holy Spirit and empower and encourage them in all that they do. Strengthen them with joy in You. Encourage those who lead LIFE Groups, teach our children, disciple our youth –all who minister among us – may they be men and women of the Word and Holy Spirit.

Lord Jesus, help us to abide in You, so that we, as Your people, might bear spiritual fruit that will last, and by doing so, show that we are truly Your disciples (John 15:5-8).

Allow us, I pray, to see harvest come in, and souls come to know Jesus! Father, I pray for pre-Christian friends, co-workers, family members, who are connected to the ECB community of faith – Lord Jesus, may their longing for You increase. Make us ready to give the reason for the hope that we have in You (Pray for the pre-Christian people in your life by name...) (1 Peter 3:15)!

Thursday

Thank You, Father, that all things have been placed under the authority and feet of Jesus! Therefore, as those who are in Christ, may we put off fear and timidity and live out the Gospel with greater confidence and joy (Ephesians 1:22; 2 Timothy 1:7).

Father, I ask in Jesus’ name that the nations of the earth would be blessed through our community of faith. Expand our territory, I pray, and may we be part of global Gospel-witness (Galatians 3:8-9).

Teach us, Father, to serve one another in love. Destroy, I pray, by the work of the Holy Spirit among us, any gossip or discord, and all jealousy that is in our midst (Galatians 5:13-15, 19-21).

Pray for our brothers and sisters worldwide who are being persecuted for their faith in Christ. Ask God to raise up a standard against the evil that comes against them. Pray that they will be strengthened to stand firm

Friday

Remind us by the Holy Spirit I pray, that we are dead to our transgressions and sins, and alive in Christ! Awaken the sleeping places of our lives to this great truth (Ephesians 2:1, 5).

This day, Father, may I and my brothers and sisters in Christ, live before others as those who are clothed in Christ. May nothing that we say or do tarnish the testimony of Jesus (Galatians 3:27).

Father, I ask in the mighty name of the Lord Jesus Christ, that every curse and assignment of the enemy that has come against Your people, be crushed. Be the “wall of fire around us and the glory within” us, O God (Zechariah 2:5)!

May we increasingly trust in You, Lord, in every area of our living, and put our confidence in You alone. May we become like trees planted by water, and never fear when things become difficult. May we always draw from You, our Living Water, and never fail to bear spiritual fruit (Jeremiah 17:7-8; John 7:38).

Saturday

In Jesus’ Mighty name I ask, Father, that we would be followers of Jesus who live by the Spirit and keep in step with the Spirit. May the sinful nature in each of us truly be crucified, I pray (Galatians 5:24-25)!

May our times of personal and corporate worship be infused with fresh Spirit-life. Teach us to worship You in spirit and in truth (John 4:23-24).

May we, from youngest to oldest, become those who do not just hear the Word, but be those who do what it says (James 1:22). May Your Word be the one true standard for our lives. May we joyfully walk in Your ways.

Anoint Pastor David with Your Holy Spirit, and may Your Word be proclaimed with boldness, changing us as we listen.
