Prayer Guide 17 January

Sunday

Connecting my heart to the heart of the Father
Putting on the armour of God – Put on the full armour of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes (Ephesians 6:11).

Father, You have called Your Church to be strong in You and in Your mighty power – not our own strength – but in the resurrection power of Christ. O God, have mercy on us and forgive us (forgive me), for we have gone our own way and depended on ourselves, our resources and the wisdom of man rather than depending on You. We have not stood in the victory of the cross of Christ.

O God, remind us continually by the presence of the Holy Spirit in each of us, to put on Christ that we might be able to stand our ground against the enemy of our souls and walk in the victory that is ours!

This day, Father, I proclaim over Your Church, the ECB faith community, and over my life:

Lord Jesus Christ, You are the way and the truth and the life. May Your Church turn from all false teaching and philosophies of this world and walk in the truth of Your Word. Be the belt of Truth around us this day.

May we turn from all sin that entangles us and walk in the righteousness that You have provided Lord Jesus. You, who became sin for us, be our breastplate of righteousness this day.

Make us ready to give the reason for the hope that we have Lord! May our feet be fitted with the Gospel of peace. Jesus, I confess You are our peace.

May all of the attacks of the evil one that come against Your people, be extinguished as faith rises up in our hearts. Lord Jesus, shield us in faith.

Lord Jesus Christ, I proclaim that salvation is found in no one else, for there is no name other than Yours under heaven by which we can be saved from sin! You, Lord Jesus, are the Christ, the Son of the Living God. You are our salvation!

This day, may the Word dwell richly in the hearts of Your Church. May it accomplish all that You intend, convicting of sin, judging attitudes and actions, revealing Jesus, defining the very way we live. Teach us to follow Your example Lord Jesus, and take up this Sword and do battle!

In all things, I choose to put on Christ this day and take my stand. May Your work in me this day and in my brothers and sisters, be mighty.

I ask all these things in the name of Jesus, who gave Himself for us that we might share in His authority and be more than conquerors. Amen and AMEN!

Monday

Praying the heart of the Father for the ECB Faith Community
Teach us to pray Lord, and may we approach You with increasing freedom and confidence. Help us to live as sons and daughters (Ephesians 3:12; Galatians 4:7).

Thank You, Father, that although we were once far away from You because of our sin, we have been brought near through the blood of Christ. May we worship You remembering this good news (Ephesians 2:13).

In Jesus’ mighty name, I ask Father, that we would be followers of Jesus who live by the Spirit and keep in step with the Spirit. May the sinful nature in each of us truly be crucified I pray (Galatians 5:24-25)!

May strongholds of pride be destroyed among us and replaced with the humility of Christ Jesus (Philippians 2:5-11).

Tuesday

Today, Lord, I pray for my brothers and sisters in Christ that they would be strengthened deep within their very being, with power from the Holy Spirit, to live like Jesus (Ephesians 3:16).

Remind us by the Holy Spirit, I pray, that we are dead to our transgressions and sins and alive in Christ! Awaken the sleeping places of our lives to this great truth (Ephesians 2:1, 5).

This day, Father, may I and my brothers and sisters in Christ, live before others as those who are clothed in Christ. May nothing that we say or do tarnish the testimony of Jesus (Galatians 3:27).

Wednesday

Thank You, Father, that all things have been placed under the authority and feet of Jesus! Therefore, as those who are in Christ, may we put off fear and timidity and live out the Gospel with greater confidence and joy (Ephesians 1:22; 2 Timothy 1:7).

Father, I ask in Jesus’ name, that the nations of the earth would be blessed through our community of faith. Expand our territory I pray, and may we be part of global Gospel-witness (Galatians 3:8-9).

May spiritual harvest come forth from each of our lives, and may many be drawn to Jesus through each of us. Bless my brothers and sisters in Christ around the city today with peace and joy in the Holy Spirit (Galatians 6:9;
Romans 14:17).

Thursday

In all things Lord – our conversations and actions, public occasions and solitary moments – may we live our lives in such a way that we are found worthy of the calling that we have received in You.

In Jesus’ mighty name, I ask Father, that we would be followers of Jesus who live by the Spirit and keep in step with the Spirit. May the sinful nature in each of us truly be crucified I pray (Galatians 5:24-25)!

I ask Lord, that You empower us by the Holy Spirit to understand Your measureless love for us. May Your great love take root in our hearts, bring healing to all woundedness and set us free to live boldly for You (Ephesians 3:18-19).

Anoint our pastors (David King, Kevin Moua, Steve Odera, René Dekker) with Your Holy Spirit and empower and encourage them in all that they do. Strengthen them with joy in You. Encourage those who lead LIFE Groups, teach our children, disciple our adults and youth – all who minister among us.

Friday

Lord Jesus, may our relationships with one another be marked with humility and gentleness and great love for one another (Ephesians 4:2).

Father, I ask that You would give to the ECB faith community the Spirit of wisdom and revelation so that we might know You better (Ephesians 1:17)!

Heavenly Father, may the fruit of the Spirit increase among us in all of its fullness. May we live lives that are full of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. In all conversations, relationships and situations may the Holy Spirit use us to make Jesus known (Galatians 6:22-23).

Father, may we become a fellowship of believers who increasingly rejoice in our salvation and give You the glory that is due Your name! Fill us with joy in Your presence as we worship in our everyday living, and when we gather together (Psalm 51:12; 96:8).

Saturday

Father, may the unity of the Spirit and the bond of peace be preserved among us and evident as we gather together tomorrow (Ephesians 4:4).

Father, may the Holy Spirit strengthen me and my brothers and sisters in Christ today, so that we do not grow weary in doing what is good (Galatians 6:9).

Teach us Father, to serve one another in love. Destroy, I pray, by the work of the Holy Spirit among us, any gossip or discord, and all jealousy that is in our midst (Galatians 5:13-15, 19-21).

Father, I ask in the mighty name of the Lord Jesus Christ, that every curse and assignment of the enemy that has come against Your people, be crushed. Be the wall of fire around us and the glory within us, O God! (Zechariah 2:5)

May the Holy Spirit work among us in power as we gather tomorrow. Change us as we worship and sit under the teaching of the Word. Change me, O Lord!
