Prayer Guide 20 November 2022

Sunday

How I praise and thank You, Father, for once I walked in darkness, but now I have seen the Light of Jesus!

Thank You for giving Your one and only Son for me – He who had never sinned – for me, who was drowning in sin and condemned! There are no words that adequately express how thankful I am for the great gift of Jesus.

For Your willingness to be born in human likeness and bear my punishment on the cross– Thank You, Lord Jesus! For removing my sin from me as far as the east is from the west and remembering it no more - Thank You, Lord Jesus! You are Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace and I celebrate and announce that You are The Christ, Messiah – Emmanuel!

Thank You Father, for expressing so lavishly that You are for me through the gift of Jesus. If You would give me Jesus, is there anything for my good that You would withhold? If You are for me, is there anyone who can be against me? If You are for me, is there anything that I should fear (Pause and consider these things. Thank God for who He is)?

Spur me on by the Holy Spirit in my pilgrimage with You, until I am truly able to live as more than a conqueror! In spite of trouble or hardship, remind me continually that Your love is holding me fast – that there is nothing past, present or future that will ever separate me from Your immeasurable love expressed in Christ – nothing! Hallelujah (Pause and meditate on this truth)!

This day I ask

Wonderful Counsellor, that You open my mind to help me understand in a deeper way what it means that You are for me (Pause and consider).

Mighty God, reveal Your power in my life in such a way that strongholds are exposed and come crashing down (Pause and repent)!

Everlasting Father, embrace me with Your love and acceptance.
(Pause and receive)

Prince of Peace, calm my anxious heart and reveal Yourself in the midst of the storms of my living, for You are for me, and nothing will separate me from Your great love (Pause and lay your burdens down).

In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Monday

Strengthen us, Father, and bless us with the peace of Christ (Psalm 29:11). In the midst of this tumultuous world, may our lives be centered on Jesus.

Father, I ask that Your Holy Spirit be present in power, drawing people to salvation during this Christmas season. As Your Word goes forth through numerous outreach events across this nation, acts of kindness and Gospel witness – may many come to know Jesus.

Father, destroy all pride among us and replace our hearts of stone with hearts of flesh (Ezekiel 11:19). Give us the gift of brokenness and repentance before You.

Tuesday

Father, I ask that the peace of Christ, which is beyond our ability to understand, would guard our hearts and minds. Free us from worry, fear and anxiety. Teach us to truly rest in You – to trust in You (Philippians 4:7; Isaiah 30:15).

Pray for the Church of Jesus Christ in your home country. Pray that pastors will be encouraged and strengthened and boldly preach the Word of God. Pray that our brothers and sisters worldwide will be salt and light and express the love of Jesus in word and action during this Christmas Season, that many might be drawn to Him. Pray for spiritual harvest!

Father, I pray for those among the ECB community who are new in their faith journey with You. May they be built-up, edified and encouraged and go on to maturity in You.

Wednesday

Prayer and Fasting Focus
You are great and greatly to be praised, O God! Thank You, that You are changing us and making us more like Jesus! Keep us hungry for more of You!

Thank You Father, for Your faithful love that always endures. I pray for my brothers and sisters this day who find themselves in trouble and hardships of many kinds – and ask that they would be strengthened by the Holy Spirit to stand firm. Remind them of Your great love for them (Psalm 136; Romans 8:35).

Renew a steadfastness in us, Father. Restore joy among us and give us a willing spirit – willingness to repent, to obey, to step out in faith, to teach others, to declare Your praise – for You are worthy (Psalm 51:10-15)!

May we, Your people, truly become more than conquerors through Jesus. May we be strong in You and in Your mighty power and stand against the devil’s schemes! Wake us up Father! Shake us from our slumber! Revive us with a fresh baptism of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:37; Ephesians 6:10-11).

Thursday

Father, may our eyes be continually fixed on Jesus and may we walk in the freedom that He has provided for us (Hebrews 12:2; Romans 8:2). Keep us from returning to sinful patterns of behaviour.

Father, may we not only love with the words that we say, but with actions and in truth, that our hearts might be continually at rest in Your presence. (1 John 3:8-9)

Father, Your Word says that if one part of the body of Christ suffers, every part suffers. Teach us to walk alongside one another and bear each other’s burdens as a testimony of Your presence among us (1 Corinthians 12:26; Galatians 6:2) (Pray for those you know of by name).

Strengthen marriage relationships among us Lord. And may those among us who are not yet married be strengthened to remain pure.

Friday

Father, I pray for my brothers and sisters who are trapped in their minds by the pain of hurtful memories. I pray for healing in Jesus’ name and ask that their minds would be renewed and their living transformed (Isaiah 61:1; Romans 12:1-2).

Father, You have said that the sacrifices that You are looking for are a broken spirit and contrite heart. Destroy pride among us Lord and give to us the gift of repentance I pray (Psalm 51:16-17).

Father, I ask that Your Word would dwell in us – richly, that we would overflow with Your Word (Colossians 3:16; 1:19-20).

Give us ‘God-sized’ dreams for the ministry that you wish to accomplish through us. Forgive our lack of faith, and embolden us to be risk-takers for the sake of Your Kingdom (Hebrews 11:1, 6)!

Saturday

Father, prepare my heart to receive the ‘seed’ of Your Word tomorrow.  May Your Word go deep within me, take root and produce lasting fruit in my life. I ask this for my brothers and sisters as well, change us by Your Word!

As we worship, open the eyes of our hearts and reveal the hidden things, for You have said that You desire truth in our inmost parts. Show us Lord, show me, where I am still withholding my heart from You (John 4:23-24; Ephesians 1:18; Job 28:11; Psalm 51:6).

May each of us come before you tomorrow with songs of thanksgiving and joy! Pour out Your Spirit on us as we gather and change us into a people that is conformed to the image of Jesus!

O God, pour out Your Holy Spirit on us! Renew us! Revive us! Change Us!
